Review : Great sound, money spent more on sound than outsides, I think
I got this for use in my living room and a PSB Subsonic 5i for use in the smaller bedroom system. However, since I had the 5i in the living room system for a while, I was able to compare them "apples to apples" where they were the only thing that changed, and both are 10" subwoofers who's prices are near each other. (I never understand people comparing things like this that are in hugely different price brackets.)
Interestingly, I think that a visual comparison of the two systems reflects their differences: The Velodyne is bigger and stronger and more capable with large spaces than other subwoofers in this price range. It doesn't get muddy even when it gets strong, and pairs with my system just fine.
The PSB, on the other hand, seems to have a slightly more refined sound, and frankly, slightly nicer outer build quality. In this case, I'm just suggesting that Velodyne used a less expensive outside. It looks fine, but doesn't look quite as nice as the PSB...
I believe, explains the few complaints apropos Velodyne 80-EQM10BV EQ-Max 10-Inch Subwoofer (Black Vinyl) not fitting or leaking.
